Canada is currently experiencing a labor shortage of skilled and unskilled workers. Hiring a caregiver directly allows you to bypass this shortage and find your family quality care that is needed for a new baby, support around the home, someone with a disability, or an aging loved one.
How Does It Work?
Step 1 - Speak with our customer relations specialist
The process starts with a brief phone call to discuss your unique needs, and if a private caregiver is ideal for your situation, then we can help move you into the next step. You can also learn more about the Home Support Worker program.
Step 2 - Be matched with a caregiver who meets your needs
We will use the information you provide during the phone call to find you a caregiver that can meet your individual needs. We take this connecting process very seriously and it might take a few back and forth calls to ensure you get the perfect caregiver.
Step 3 - Interview over a video conference
Meet your caregiver face-to-face over Zoom, or we can set up a video chat over telephone.. For select locations, a liaison may be sent to assist you with setting up your computer if necessary.
Step 4 - Provide basic ID and proof of ability to hire
This step requires a Drivers License or other valid Canadian ID, and your Notice of Assessment from the past year. These documents will be sent directly to the government of Canada Home Support Program Coordinators. Note: a low income does not necessarily invalidate you from the program.
Step 5 - Create a caregiver business license
As you are hiring your caregiver as an employee, it is necessary to register a business in order to do so. There is a special category for “domestic worker”. You may also use an existing business license. This step is something we can walk you through. It is a simple 5 minute procedure with CRA Canada and we will not have access to your personal information.
Step 6 - Await for your quality service care provider
Once the paperwork is completed, you will be placed in a queue with the Government of Canada. Depending on the service you have requested and the worker whom you have selected, the process can be as fast as 3-4 months. We will let you know in advance of this step how long your situation could take.

What if I don’t like my caregiver?
You are not sponsoring the caregiver. You can terminate the employment at any time, just like any employee in any field. We can help you find a replacement match.
How long does the process take?
The timeframe varies, but expect your caregiver to arrive in 3-6 months. We also partner with a Canadian agency that can provide immediate care in the interim, and we can support you through the entire process.
Can I hire on behalf of my parents?
Yes!
Do you offer caregivers for special needs?
Yes, if the person in need of care has a disability recognized by a medical doctor or the government of Canada, this program can support them.
